23. Operator round of EnviTec Biogas AG for biogas plant operators in Güstrow

29.02.2024

Exclusive insights into current topics from the biogas industry

Lohne/Saerbeck // The 23rd operator round table for customers of EnviTec Biogas AG took place in Güstrow for the first time this year. The format is not only characterised by exclusive insights and information on the topic of biogas, but also by the opportunity for plant operators and experts to exchange technical and personal information. "It is the mix of information, tradition and insights that makes our operator round table a lasting success," says Jan Meistermann, Sales Manager at EnviTec Service GmbH. "This year, the event was fully booked with 55 participants, including a waiting list," adds Christian Eilert, Sales Manager of EnviTec Plant Engineering Germany.

A particular highlight of the information day was the tour of Germany's largest integrated bio-LNG plant, EnviTec Bioenergie Güstrow GmbH. The plant visit was preceded by a total of four presentations focussing on the latest topics in the biogas industry. The event kicked off with a presentation by leasing and financing specialist Andreas Berens on the financing of biogas plants and the market opportunities for biomethane.

Dr Harald Lindorfer, Green Planet Projects GmbH, then offered an insight into economical biomethane production without farm manure. The company develops, builds and operates clean power plants - particularly in the field of wind energy. In the field of renewable gases, Lindorfer and his colleagues support biogas plants in converting to biomethane feed-in through direct financial participation or by concluding a purchase agreement.

Marius Alck and Andreas Schmeing, ibGenesis GmbH, then provided information on current funding opportunities in the biogas sector. The independent engineering firm based in Rhede, North Rhine-Westphalia, specialises in funding and energy consulting, including advice on ways to achieve climate neutrality.

Last but not least, Rainer Dorn, Head of the CO2 Liquefaction Department at EnviTec Anlagenbau, gave a tour of the Güstrow plant, which has been in trial operation since the summer. "In addition to the climate-neutral fuel Bio-LNG, we produce liquid carbon dioxide that can be used in food production and the beverage industry, for example," said Dorn. In future, the plant will produce 15,000 tonnes of LCO2 and around 9,600 tonnes of bio-LNG annually, thus ensuring greener heavy goods transport.

Both the tour of Germany's largest integrated bio-LNG plant and the presentations were very well received by the participants. "I have been taking part in the operator rounds for years, not least for the reason that we will be facing a generational change at some point, so it pays to pass on extensive information to the next generation as early as possible," says Hans-Heinrich Lindwedel, plant operator at Lindwedel Biogas GmbH & Co. KG.
